We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable Apprentice Dental Nurse to join our friendly and professional dental practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a rewarding career in dentistry while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Clinical Duties

  • Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms before each patient appointment.
  • Clean, sterilise and decontaminate instruments and equipment in line with infection prevention and control policies.
  • Prepare and maintain dental materials and equipment.
  • Provide reassurance and support to patients before, during and after treatment.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records using the practice management software.
  • Assist with stock control and report shortages of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are clean, safe and fully equipped throughout the day.
  • Support the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care.

Reception & Administrative Duties

  • Welcome patients to the practice in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries.
  • Book, amend and manage patient appointments.
  • Process patient payments and issue receipts where required.
  • Assist with patient recalls and appointment reminders.
  • Maintain patient records accurately and confidentially.
  • Carry out general administrative duties including filing, scanning and document management.
  • Work closely with the reception team to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the practice.
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times.

General Responsibilities

  • Follow all Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, Safeguarding and GDPR policies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend all college or apprenticeship training sessions.
  • Complete coursework, assessments and portfolio evidence within agreed timescales.
  • Work professionally as part of the wider practice team.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and level of training.

Once qualified and experienced there are many and varied opportunities for dental nurses to progress on to positions with more responsibility and to train for other roles within dentistry.
