Dental Nurse Apprentice – Bury St Edmunds

About the Role
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and well-motivated individual to join our Dental Nurse Apprentice role in the Bury St Edmunds team, which operates with Dental HealthCare Suffolk. This unique position allows you to work within East of England Community Dental Services, supporting diverse patient demographics.
Role Overview
As a Dental Nurse Apprentice, you will:

Work towards earning a Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing, covering reception duties, cross-infection control procedures, and chairside support.

Gain practical experience and theoretical training through West Suffolk College, in collaboration with an experienced dental team, a workplace mentor, and an apprenticeship assessor.

Complete a portfolio of evidence, observations, workbooks, and four invigilated exams.

Conclude the apprenticeship with an End-Point Assessment, consisting of a project and interview.

Fixed-term contract for 24 months.

Must not currently hold a Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, you must:
- Be aged 16 or over.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have lived in the UK for the last three years.
- Not be studying a government-funded course.
- Your participation in this programme means you will directly contribute to delivering outstanding dental care at East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary tasks include:
- Achieving a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, rewarded with a focus on the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing, as agreed with your line manager.
- Developing professional skills through in-house training, observation, and assessment.
- Performing tasks such as:
- Assisting in patient data input, treatment planning, and payment processing.
- Executing reception duties as required.
- Maintaining strict patient confidentiality at all times.
Training & Support
- You will be supervised while also learning to apply your own initiative, improving your communication and nursing skills.
