This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to start a career in dental nursing, based in a friendly practice.
Requirements
- GCSE in English (grade 4)
- GCSE in Maths (grade 4)
- A passion and desire to work within the dental sector is essential and to not be put off at the sight of blood.
- If you are using public transport to get to the practice, please ensure you have researched the route and that a regular service is available.
- A course of Hepatitis B vaccines and a clear enhanced DBS.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the dentist in providing safe and effective treatments to patients, from simple check-ups to advanced specialist treatments
- Providing patients with a high level of care
- Setting up and cleaning the surgery
- Sterilising instruments
- Updating patient records
- Maintaining equipment
- Preparing instruments and materials for various treatments
- Adhering to practice policies and procedures

- Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the relevant qualification to apply for professional registration as a dental nurse to the General Dental Council (GDC).

Application Process
- Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
- During your working day, the dental practice will support you with learning the practical skills required, whilst your training provider (Aspiration Training) will teach you the theory side.
- Your study will be based online with regular teaching and 1-2-1 sessions.
- Off-the-job training will be given throughout your apprenticeship during paid working hours.
- Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.
