Location: Balham, London (office-based, covering reception operations across our Balham, Putney and Earlsfield practices)
Job Type: Full-time
Company: The Dentist
About Us
The Dentist is a growing private dental group with practices across Balham, Putney and Earlsfield. As we expand, we're building a central office function to support and strengthen front of house operations across every site, and this role sits right at the heart of it.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the "engine room" of a growing dental group. Based in our Balham office, you'll be the glue between our practices, making sure patients are followed up, labwork is on track, and every enquiry is given the best chance of becoming a booked consultation.
This isn't a typical front-desk role. You won't be sat behind reception all day, you'll be working across our sites remotely from a central office, owning processes that keep patient care moving and revenue flowing.
What You'll Be Doing
- Patient follow-up: Proactively chasing outstanding treatment plans, unbooked patients and post-consultation enquiries so nothing falls through the cracks
- Labwork coordination: Tracking lab cases across all sites, chasing turnaround times, and ensuring cases are ready and matched to appointments
- Lead management & conversion: Handling new patient enquiries with a sales-focused mindset, converting leads into booked consultations and treatment starts
- Cross-site support: Working closely with reception teams at Balham, Putney and Earlsfield to keep diaries full and operations running smoothly
- Using Dentally: To manage patient records, diaries, treatment plans and recalls accurately across the group

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
- Strong dental reception experience is essential — ideally with a proven track record in selling private dental treatment (converting consultations, discussing treatment plans and finance options with patients)
- Solid understanding of how a dental practice runs from the front desk — patient journeys, treatment coordination, labwork processes, diary management
- Experience with Dentally is a strong advantage
- Prior experience in an exclusively office-based or "hub" reception role would be a plus, but isn't essential
- Great energy, a genuine appetite to learn, and comfort working in a fast-moving, growing business
- Excellent communication skills and confidence speaking to patients over the phone and by email
- Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple sites and priorities at once
