Key Responsibilities As a Dental Therapist
- Brand Ambassador: Be the face of Impress, delivering a world-class, seamless experience for every customer/patient while providing top-tier clinical care.
- Clinical Excellence & Restorative Care: Perform dental therapy procedures strictly within the GDC scope of practice, including:
- Full restorative duties (direct restorations on primary and secondary teeth, pulpotomies, and pre-formed crowns on primary teeth).
- Routine therapeutic procedures (extracting primary teeth, placing rubber dams, temporary dressings, and re-cementing crowns with temporary cement).
- Comprehensive periodontal treatment (supragingival/subgingival scaling, root surface debridement, and care of implants/peri-implant tissues).
- Administration of Local Anaesthetic (infiltration and inferior dental block analgesia).
- Advanced Diagnostics & Assessment: Obtain and evaluate detailed medical and dental histories, conduct thorough clinical examinations, perform oral cancer screenings, and identify anatomical abnormalities or common pathologies.
- Advanced Diagnostics & Tech: Take, process, and interpret various radiographic film views (prescribing radiographs as required). Capture high-quality intra/extra-oral photographs and take accurate impressions.
- Patient Journey & Treatment Planning: Diagnose, formulate, and plan the delivery of care within your competence. When working on prescription, dynamically vary the details (such as restoration materials or surfaces) to suit individual patient needs.
- Education & Prevention: Provide preventive oral care, apply topical treatments/fissure sealants, and utilize anti-microbial therapies. Educate and advise patients on smoking cessation, caries, periodontal disease, and tooth wear.
- Compliance & Governance: Keep full, accurate, and contemporaneous patient records, ensuring strict compliance with clinical governance, CQC standards, and data protection regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the wider dental team (Dentists, Orthodontists, Dental Nurses, etc.), liaising closely on complex treatments and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when necessary.
- Drive & Mindset: Self-motivation and a hunger for success. Never accept results lower than “Impressive”. Lead by example and never stop improving.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
