Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to oversee the Sample Receipt, Sample Registration, Sample Preparation, Subcontract Testing & Internal Supply Chain departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily management of samples, sample registration, and preparation to meet service levels.
- Maintain performance levels to achieve daily targets.
- Act as the primary knowledge holder for customs requirements to ensure timely despatch of samples from Wolverhampton to worldwide testing labs.
- Maintain management reporting and KPIs providing status across all performance areas.
- Define and implement corrective actions when targets are not met.
- Manage and direct subordinates to achieve daily targets.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for Non-Conforming Work.
- Provide high-level internal and external customer service.
- Manage preferred partner testing laboratories through agreed KPIs and monthly reviews.
- Oversee the management and governance of internal and external food chemistry sample storage locations.
- Maintain tracking records detailing the location of samples.
- Supervise and direct subordinates to achieve agreed daily targets.
- Monitor customer sales performance through monthly sales analysis and reporting.
- Review and maintain ownership of 5S standards within the Chemistry department's chilled and frozen storage areas.
- Liaise with Procurement to identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities for shared consumable items across the Wolverhampton site.
- Monitor and manage charges associated with shared courier and analysis costs across the Eurofins network to ensure accuracy and appropriate cost allocation.
- Receipt purchase orders and monitor costs for testing subcontracted outside of the Eurofins Group.
- Monitor, review, and amend customer quotations when testing requirements change due to amendments made by partner laboratories, ensuring quotations remain accurate and commercially aligned.
- Develop, implement, and report KPIs providing end-to-end visibility of sample flow.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Involve in investigation and root cause analysis in relation to Non-Conforming Work.
- Work in accordance with quality standards and the requirements of ISO17025.
- Ensure compliance with the Laboratory Quality Manual by adhering to policies, procedures, and associated documents.

Qualifications
- Proven capability to manage teams in a fast-moving production environment.
- Skilled in defining, implementing, and managing performance levels through Daily KPIs and performance boards.
- Capable of implementing a high standard of 5S.
- Skilled in structured problem solving, RCCA, and continuous improvement.
- Capable of value stream mapping complex processes.
- Experience in exporting and managing logistics partners.
- Capable of managing complex projects.
- Science or Business Degree or equivalent professional learning/development.
- IOSH Qualification.
- Knowledge of documented quality systems.
- Intermediate level MS Excel.
- Ability to perform a risk assessment, develop control measures, and manage risk.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to effectively manage team, customer, and stakeholder relationships.
