What you'll be doing

Join the Deployable and Reactive Team (DaRT) at the House of Commons - a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in safeguarding UK Parliament.

As a DaRT Officer, you'll be part of a highly skilled, mobile security unit that responds to emerging threats, supports planned operations, and enhances the overall safety of the Parliamentary Estate.

In this role, you'll act as both a proactive and reactive security asset - conducting targeted patrols, overt and covert behavioural detection, and leading specialist security searches across key locations. You'll respond to incidents across the Estate, exercise common law powers where necessary, and play a central part in contingency planning.

You will also support high-profile committees and events, facilitate the secure movement of dignitaries, and carry out close protection duties, sometimes acting as team leader. From major ceremonial occasions such as State Opening to spontaneous security challenges, no two days are the same.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
