Depot Manager – Great Bear (Culina Group)

About the Role

The Sherburn Depot Manager will lead a high-throughput site for a prestigious FMCG client, ensuring exceptional customer service and operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities

The Depot Manager is accountable for:

  • Operational excellence: Delivering high service standards while managing all site-wide activities.
  • Financial performance: Setting, meeting, and exceeding targets through strategic budgeting and cost management.
  • Customer relationships: Engaging proactively with clients to drive satisfaction and exceed KPIs.
  • People leadership: Developing a management team and fostering a high-performing culture with accountability for +100 employees.
  • Health & Safety & compliance: Ensuring full adherence to H&S standards and licence obligations.
  • Continuous improvement: Introducing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and contract terms.

Key Duties & Expectations

  • Manage health & safety, facilities, and internal operations to meet audit standards.
  • Work closely with customers to align on operational strategies and financial targets.
  • Enforce quality control, compliance, and financial accountability.
  • Drive cost savings, revenue growth, and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee the Operator Licence and all regulatory adherence.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience in high-volume logistics, team leadership, and customer-facing roles.
  • Strong numerical, financial, and commercial acuity (with experience of open/closed contracts).
  • Excellent communication skills for multi-level relationships.
  • Track record of customer relationship enhancement (provide examples).
  • Strategic-thinking ability to balance operational and commercial demands.

Desirable:

  • National CPC qualification for, or strong experience in, transport management.
