Head Depot Manager – Carrier Rental Systems

About The Role

Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you will lead a high-performing depot team with a focus on operational excellence, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and customer satisfaction. Core responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

  • Depot & Team Leadership

    • Proactively lead and manage daily operations to ensure high standards of EHS compliance and presentation.
    • Optimise the availability and utilization of rental assets.
    • Foster a positive, high-performing team culture while maintaining open communication, visible leadership, and hands-on engagement.
    • Hold regular team meetings and attend weekly depot forums.
    • Act as a key liaison between office teams (hire desk, administration, logistics), service teams, and wider sales/echelon networks.
  • Operational & Administrative Oversight

    • Manage the day-to-day depot office and administration, including:
      • Hire desk operations
      • Contract administration
      • Logistics coordination
    • Support workshop management and oversee engineering teams.
    • Maintain high-accuracy data entry for all systems and records.
    • Lead the office administration team, providing mentorship via monthly sessions.

  • Policy & Compliance

    • Ensure strict adherence to Company Policies and Procedures.
    • Full proficiency in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, including:
      • PPE protocols
      • Accident reporting
      • Safety commitments
      • RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement)
      • ACE (Authorising Contracted Employees)
  • Customer Service & Continuous Improvement

    • Promote the highest standards of customer service.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Resolve invoice disputes and operational queries efficiently.
    • Act decisively to address issues and enhance system transparency.

  • Base Salary: £34,500–£69,500 per annum (dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications).

What We’re Looking For

Ideal candidates will bring:

Essential Criteria

✔ Strong hands-on experience in rental or service industry roles, preferably in depot operations or leadership. ✔ Proven ability to manage teams of 30+ members, demonstrating:

  • Robust leadership skills
  • Engaging team-building abilities
  • Commitment to Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) principles ✔ Organised, proactive mindset with experience in:
  • Process improvement
  • Digitisation and modernisation ✔ Strong communcation skills (verbal and written) for internal & external liaison. ✔ A customer-centric approach with proven problem-solving and critical-thinking strengths.

Preferred Qualifications

Skills or experience in:

  • Fleet/asset management
  • Compliance & risk management frameworks (e.g., ISO standards)
  • Change management within high-velocity environments

Salary & Compensation

  • Annual Base Pay: £34,500–£69,500 (pay within range determined by qualifications/ experiencia).
  • Additional Incentives: Short-term cash bonuses (eligibility dependent on company/market plans).
