Depot Manager – Portsmouth

Are you an experienced Depot Manager, Branch Manager or Operations Manager looking to take ownership of a high-performing operation with genuine autonomy and responsibility? We're looking for an ambitious, commercially driven leader to take full responsibility for a busy depot in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead an established team, drive operational excellence and influence the continued growth of a successful business. Managing a depot with a £7 million P&L and a team of 22 employees, you'll be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, improving operational performance and ensuring the depot consistently exceeds its commercial objectives.

The Role

Reporting to the Regional Director, you'll lead every aspect of the depot, ensuring it operates safely, efficiently and profitably.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full accountability for the depot's £7m profit and loss.
  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of 22 across operations, engineering, transport, administration and sales.
  • Driving revenue growth while maintaining tight control of costs and profitability.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Managing fleet utilisation, availability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Monitoring KPIs and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coaching and developing future leaders within the business.
  • Working closely with regional leadership to deliver business objectives and strategic growth.

About You

You'll already have experience managing a busy depot or branch within a fast-paced equipment rental or capital equipment environment and thrive on leading people and improving performance.

You'll ideally have experience within:

  • Material Handling/Forklifts
  • Construction Equipment
  • Equipment Rental
  • Heavy Plant or Capital Equipment
