Depot Operative
Depot Operative
Location: Kilsyth
Building a sustainable tomorrow, BAM Site Solutions are looking to recruit a Depot Operative.
About the Role
The Depot Operative will be responsible for:
- Carrying out maintenance, refurbishment, and fit-out of depot buildings and yard areas.
- Ensuring all facilities meet current standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting depot operations by maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organised working environment.
- Enabling the team to deliver a high standard of service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Place the health and safety of everyone as the highest priority.
- Complete work right first time, minimising delays and_addressing failures_.
- Conduct and follow workplace risk assessments before work begins.
Facilities & Maintenance
- Record and enter water meter readings into BAM Smart.
- Monitor skips and arrange emptying as required.
- Assist with depot maintenance and utilities.
- Check suitability and condition of depot drains and ensure spill traps are fit for purpose.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date depot signage.
- Oversee maintenance of fire alarm systems (weekly checks).
- Arrange and supervise subcontractors, ensuring Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) meet company standards.

Operational Support
- Monitor depot road conditions and arrange necessary repairs.
- Allocate maintenance costs correctly.
- Supervise return of site materials to the depot, including unloading and positioning.
- Provide monthly water readings to the manager.
Plant & Equipment
- Operate plant equipment safely (where authorised).
Flexibility & Additional Duties
- Complete other duties as requested by a line manager, within trained competence.

- A clean driving licence (preferred).
- Experience in:
- Plumbing
- Joinery & Decorating
- Electrical work
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage busy workloads.
- Strong commitment to being an enthusiastic team player.
- Highly professional attitude and positivity.
- Slinger/ Signaller qualifications (preferred).
- CPCS (various categories) considerations.
- AP (Asbestos Practitioner) qualification described (considered).
