Deputy Care Manager

Job Title: Deputy Care Manager

Salaries: £28,000 – £30,000 (dependent on experience) Reports To: Registered Care Manager


Purpose of the Role

To support the Registered Care Manager in the effective day-to-day running of the domiciliary and live-in care service. The Deputy Care Manager will:

  • Ensure delivery of safe, person-centred care
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards
  • Support staff in operational processes

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management

  • Conduct regular staff supervisions and competency assessments
  • Prioritise return-to-work interviews following sickness absence
  • Oversee staff performance management, development, and wellbeing
  • Provide guidance and support to carers in line with company policies

Care Planning

  • Develop, review, and update personalised care plans
  • Complete care and risk assessments
  • Ensure -care documentation is accurate, compliant, and CQC-standard aligned
  • Monitor care quality and drive continuous improvement

Operations

  • Oversee staff rotas for safe staffing and care continuity
  • Coordinate live-in care packages (carer-client matching, package management)
  • Respond rapidly to emergencies, staffing shortages, or operational disruptions
  • Support daily service operations and out-of-hours on-call responsibilities

Financial Administration

  • Prepare and timely process client and staff invoices
  • Assist with payroll (verifying care hours, timesheets, and wages)
  • Maintain accurate financial records

Meetings and Communication

  • Attend management meetings and contribute to service development
  • Engage in multidisciplinary discussions with healthcare professionals, clients, and families as needed
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders (clients, relatives, providers, team)
  • Actively participate in external events

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Support compliance with CQC regulations and company policies
  • Maintain confidentiality under GDPR and company procedures
  • Uphold safeguarding, dignity, equality, diversity, and person-centred values

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience in domiciliary and/or live-in care
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Background in staff supervision and care planning
  • Knowledge of CQC standards and care regulations
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Skills in care management software and Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence (with vehicle access)

Desirable

  • Level 3, 4, or 5 Health and Social Care Diploma (or progress toward one)
  • Previous senior/supervisory care experience
  • Prior experience with rota management, payroll, and invoicing
