Bluebird Care Oxford is proud to be rated Outstanding by the CQC, and we are looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Care Manager to help us continue delivering exceptional care across the local community.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established care professional who is ready to take the next step in their career or an experienced Deputy Manager looking to join a high-performing service.

Working closely with the Registered Care Manager, you will provide strong operational leadership across the service, support and develop the office and care teams, maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance, and help drive the continued growth of the business.

As Deputy Care Manager, you will play a central role in the safe, effective and efficient running of the service. You will help ensure that our customers receive high-quality, person-centred care that protects their dignity, independence and right to make choices.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting the Registered Care Manager with the day-to-day management of the service
  • Overseeing the safe delivery and quality of care in line with CQC requirements, legislation and company policies
  • Monitoring care assessments, support plans, risk assessments and customer reviews
  • Providing leadership, supervision and ongoing support to office and care colleagues
  • Managing staff performance, appraisals, development and training needs
  • Supporting recruitment, induction and retention across the service
  • Ensuring there are sufficient suitably trained and qualified colleagues to meet customer needs
  • Monitoring health and safety, safeguarding, record keeping and regulatory compliance
  • Leading or supporting investigations into complaints, incidents and more complex concerns
  • Producing management information and making recommendations for service improvements
  • Building positive relationships with customers, families, health and social care professionals and other external stakeholders
  • Supporting the Registered Care Manager to achieve business growth and performance objectives
  • Helping to ensure emergency and on-call matters are managed effectively

The successful candidate will be visible, approachable and confident, with the ability to balance quality, people management and operational priorities.


About You

You will have significant experience within adult social care, ideally within a domiciliary or community care setting, together with a strong understanding of what excellent person-centred care looks like.

You Will Also Need

  • Experience of leading, managing and developing a care team
  • A strong understanding of CQC regulations and the legal requirements relating to domiciliary care
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety and risk management
  • Experience of supervising staff and managing performance effectively
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills
  • The confidence to manage challenging situations, complaints and complex incidents
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure
  • A positive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to lead by example
  • A commitment to promoting equality, dignity, independence and choice
  • The ability to analyse information, prepare reports and identify opportunities for improvement
  • A willingness to work flexibly when required to support the safe delivery of the service

A relevant social care qualification is desirable, along with experience of financial or business management. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use would also be advantageous.

An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory employment references will be required for this position.
