Deputy Catering Manager - Dudley Zoo, Dudley

Full-Time / Permanent

£34474.76 + excellent benefits including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.

Role Purpose

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Catering Manager for Dudley Zoo, to operate the business on a day-to-day basis ensuring designated operational areas are run professionally, efficiently and within budgetary guidelines, meeting and exceeding visitor expectation whilst supervising and developing staff. Accountable to comply with Company policies and procedures. This venue operates seven days per week and this role will involve working weekends, including Bank Holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete accurate forecasting and reporting of financial data in accordance with set deadlines, consulting as necessary with Catering Operations Manager suggestions to improve profitability of area.
  • Ensure you, your direct reports and those others working within your areas of responsibility do so in accordance with current, applicable health & safety / fire safety legislation and group health & safety policies, procedures and arrangements.
  • Implement and manage those group health & safety / fire safety policies, procedures and arrangements as applicable to your work activities and working environment.
  • Proactively manage resources and take appropriate action to changes in the business.
  • Deputise when required in the Catering Manager's absence.
  • Ensure staff are trained in all aspects of role – ability to recognise training requirements and offer ‘hands on’ approach when required.
  • Practical supervision of temporary staff to include appropriate long term development of staff dealing with disciplinary issues, managing absenteeism etc.
  • Implement, monitor and oversee delivery of all standards, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Provide effective complaint handling in accordance with standards by investigating complaints, liaising with customers and staff to determining necessary action.
  • Demonstrate high leadership skills thereby providing the basis for high group morale and staff motivation.
  • Allocate duties and responsibilities to all team members.
  • Ensure that all pre-booked goods and services are carefully noted and delivered to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Control of the temporary labour budget.
