£75k to £82k plus benefits, BUPA, annual bonus
Havant, Hampshire + Hybrid Working
37.5 hours per week and 4 day work week flexibility (Compressed hours)

The Role
We are seeking a proven Sustainment Architect to create logistics solutions for complex defence programmes.
This is a dual role encompassing First Line Management and Sustainment architect technical aspects which will encompass all the normal management responsibilities including leading a Team of architects reporting to the Sustainment Logistics Manager.
You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development and delivery of new Sustainment-focused Support Solution services, and the transition of new services into the service delivery phase of programme lifecycle.
This role will provide support to the Chief Sustainment Architect during capture and proposal phases of new products or services, through analysing proposal documentation such as the Statement of Requirements (SOR) and the Statement of Work (SOW), to develop support solution options.
During the proposal phase, you will advice on the technical feasibility and requirements gathering, while moving into the Transition phase.
The Transition phase is where you will begin finalising operational aspects, fine-tuning the support solution, addressing risks, optimising for delivery and preparing for the transition to service delivery.
To support this, the Deputy Chief Sustainment Architect will integrate with a Service Delivery Manager (SDM), handing over the development of the proposal toward submission, allowing the SDM to engage and absorb critical elements of the solution design.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Service Design support to capture and proposal activities
- Develop support solutions for potential new programmes. Concept through to delivery
- Review, plan and support the delivery of Sustainment functional requirements for proposed services
- Develop and deliver appropriate Service Design performance metrics and updates (KPIs, SLAs)
- Develop the artefacts and analysis required for a proposal activities in accordance with applicable standards
- Develop and deliver training strategies in relation to supporting proposal work
- Provide support for requirements acceptance and engineering change
- Support the transition of newly designed services into the Service Delivery phase
- Plan and support the delivery of relevant demonstrations for customers and stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and implement solutions
- Conduct regular reviews with stakeholders and internal teams, recommending improvements.
- Manage and coordinate service transitions, ensuring smooth handover and minimal disruption to our customers.

Required Skills
- Experience developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships with excellent communication and engagement skills to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of through-life support standards such as:
- DEFSTAN 00-600
- DEFSTAN 00-40
- DEFSTAN 00-42
- Knowledge in Defence (KiD)
- Defence Logistics Framework (DLF)
- Experience in service delivery management, with a strong understanding of service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000)
- Experience working in a bid/proposal environment including understanding customer requirements and the tasks needed to demonstrate compliance, estimating costs/hours, generating and developing proposal content such as ILS plans etc.
- Experience and understanding of supportability analysis on systems.
- Experience managing proposal finances
- Understanding of relevant standards and legislation (Civil and Military)
- Experience in planning, organising, and coordinating resources, timelines, and deliverables
- Strong customer service skills, empathy, communication and product knowledge
- Ability to build and maintain relationships in complex environments
- Adept at analysing complex situations, identifying problems, and proposing effective solutions
- Experience of working with MOD frameworks and organisation
