Deputy Director of Library & Archives (111796)

About the Role

This role is a senior leadership position, acting as the principal deputy to the University Librarian. It requires strategic leadership and management of the Library and Archives, with particular responsibility for transforming services aligned with evolving digital, open, education, and research-intensive environments.

The Deputy Director will lead key portfolios including research and academic services and digital innovation, ensuring library and archive services enhance:

  • Excellence in research
  • Teaching and learning
  • Innovation

  • Challenges of digital transformation

About You

We seek a senior library and information professional who:

  • Can actively contribute to strategic leadership of the Library and Archives.
  • Has demonstrated success in leading complex service portfolios, especially in research services, academic support, and digital innovation.
  • Possesses credibility to represent the Library at the institution’s highest levels.

Essential qualities:

  • Proven track record of translating institutional strategy into operational outcomes.
  • Ability to balance multiple demands with clarity and confidence.
  • Strong capability to build and maintain cross-institutional relationships to drive change.
