Deputy Director of Quality and Improvement – North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust
This new role will act as deputy to the Director of Quality and Improvement, overseeing the delivery of the Quality Directorate’s strategic plans while driving improvements in patient safety and regulatory compliance.
About the Role
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Extensive leadership experience in healthcare—with a proven track record of delivery across varied portfolios
- A deep understanding of NHS governance, including PSIRF (Patient Safety Incident Response Framework)
- A strong ability to build relationships, take ownership, and deliver improvements
- Experience in applying and testing improvement methodologies

Key Responsibilities
- Providing executive oversight of strategic quality and improvement initiatives
- Ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance and patient safety standards
- Leading cross-organisational projects to enhance service delivery
- Supporting the broader NHS 111, ambulance, and patient transport services in the North West, including major incident response
Entry Process

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24/7 emergency medical services, including:
Core Services
- Emergency ambulance responses for life-saving care inpatients
- Non-emergency patient transport for hospital-bound individuals unable to travel independently
Specialist Initiatives
- Collaboration with other emergency services to manage major incident responses
- Operation of the NHS 111 service, a 24-hour non-emergency medical helpline introduced in 2013 to improve access to NHS healthcare (replacing NHS Direct)
