At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, we are seeking an exceptional Deputy Divisional Midwifery & Nursing Director to join our dedicated senior leadership team and work alongside our Divisional Midwifery & Nursing Director to shape the future of Women’s Health services across the Trust.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence a diverse portfolio that includes Maternity Services, Gynaecology, Breast Services and the SAFE Centre (Sexual Assault Referral Centre), ensuring the delivery of compassionate, high-quality and safe care for women, babies and families across our communities.

This post offers an exceptional development opportunity for an ambitious senior leader aspiring to become a future Head of Midwifery. You will gain invaluable experience leading large-scale transformation programmes, influencing strategic direction and working at the forefront of maternity service improvement within a progressive and supportive organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Influence: Work closely with the Divisional Midwifery & Nursing Director to provide professional, operational and strategic leadership across the division.
- Service Improvement: Play a key role in leading high-performing teams, driving service improvement, managing change and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care for women, babies and families.
- Collaborative Work: Working collaboratively with colleagues across maternity, nursing, allied health professions and the wider multidisciplinary team, help turn strategy into meaningful outcomes.
- Strategic Support: Support the delivery of our Nursing, Midwifery & AHP Strategy, Patient Experience and Involvement Strategy and Maternity & Neonatal Transformation Programme, while driving quality improvement, workforce development, performance and patient experience across the division.

About Our Maternity Services
Our maternity service supports around 4,300 births each year, offering women and families a choice of four birth settings to help create a personalised and positive maternity experience. We are proud to be home to a Level 3 Neonatal Unit, the Maternal Medicine Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria, and a provider of specialist Fetal Medicine Services, delivering expert care to women and babies across the region.
