Deputy Engineering Manager – Sizewell C (Suffolk) – Site-Based Opportunity
Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future
As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), you will support the construction of Sizewell C—a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes. This project will play a critical role in the UK’s energy future, delivering reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role is based within the Enabling and Earthwork Section of the Civil Works Alliance.
What Will You Do?
The Sizewell C (SZC) project seeks a Deputy Engineering Manager to support the Engineering Manager in managing and coordinating construction engineering for Enabling Works and Earthworks during the project’s delivery phase. Located on-site, this role ensures Engineering Delivery Excellence through the adoption of engineering processes, procedures, and best practice.
The scope of Earthworks and Enabling Works represents the initial phase of the Civil Works Programme for Sizewell C, involving the construction of critical civil engineering elements, including:
- Access bridges
- Sea defence structures
- Retaining structures
- Environmental barriers
- TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) launch shafts
- Marine delivery structures

Key Responsibilities
- Manage right-first-time delivery of engineering activities across:
- Methods
- Temporary/Permanent Works
- Digital Engineering
- Quality Assurance
- Materials Management
- Surveying
- Assist in organising and structuring technical resources to meet project requirements for Enabling & Earthworks.
- Collaborate with pre-construction and engineering leaders, stakeholders, and client representatives to manage complex technical interfaces.
- Work closely with procurement, commercial, information management, digital engineering, and project controls to establish efficient project management principles.
- Assist in developing and implementing a delivery strategy in alignment with:
- Industry best practices
- Civil Works Alliance policies
- Sizewell C operational procedures
