Deputy Finance Director
Head of Financial Controls & Reporting (Ind azioni - Group-wide)

This senior leadership role will serve as the functional lead for OakNorth Group’s core financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting, with full ownership of the accountabilities below:
- Financial close, statutory accounts, and tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions (UK, US, and India)
- Governance of the regulatory reporting framework
- Day-to-day financial control processes
- Leadership of finance teams in India, ensuring alignment with UK operations
- Strategic collaboration with the Head of Finance & Controls
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring a balance of operational excellence and strategic contribution across the group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
- Lead the monthly and annual close process for all group entities, ensuring timely, accurate, and IFRS-compliant reporting
- Maintain strong ledger controls, reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity
- Oversee preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate annual financial statements
- Support external audits for bank and group entities
Taxation
- Lead UK tax compliance, including:
- Corporation tax filings
- VAT governance and requirements
- Oversee group tax operations across:
- UK
- US (US GAAP knowledge is an advantage)
- India
- Manage external advisors, ensuring timely submissions
- Support transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, and tax optimisation initiatives

Regulatory Reporting
- Provide senior oversight of:
- PRA (Prudential Regulation Authority)
- FCA (Financial Conduct Authority)
- BoE (Bank of England) returns
- Pillar 3 disclosures
- Serve as the escalation point for technical/regulatory matters and policy interpretation
- Oversee improvements to regulatory reporting processes and systems, ensuring seamless integration with core finance operations
Governance & Controls
- Strengthen the financial control environment through:
- Targeted process improvements
- Policy alignment
- Control testing
- Drive consistency in:
- Policies
- Reconciliations
- Governance standards across the group
Leadership & Collaboration
- Functionally lead and mentor finance controllership teams in India, ensuring alignment of:
- Objectives
- Processes
- Performance standards with UK operations
- Act as the day-to-day lead for finance operations, providing continuity for the Head of Finance & Controls
- Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Regulatory, and Legal teams to deliver:
- Aligned outputs
- Support for business-wide priorities
Transformation & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead strategic finance projects, including:
- Capital optimisation efforts
- Process improvements
- Drive adoption of:
- Automation
- AI
- System upgrades to enhance:
- Efficiency
- Controls
- Readiness for new products or services

Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Qualifications & Technical Expertise
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with 10+ years of post-qualified experience
- Strong background in:
- IFRS reporting
- Tax compliance (with FP&A and treasury experience an advantage)
- Financial controls, especially in financial services or banking
- Knowledge of US GAAP is highly desirable
- Proven track record in managing:
- Close processes
- Statutory filings
- Regulatory interactions
- Experience working:
- Across multiple geographies
- With senior stakeholders
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Hands-on leader with strong technical expertise
- Demonstrable delivery focus in high-pressure environments
- Confident communicator, able to:
- Engage with senior stakeholders
- Collaborate with external advisors
- Interface with regulators seamlessly
- Organised and proactive, thriving in fast-paced, regulated environments
- Collaborative leader, able to develop high-performing teams
