Deputy Head of School
Carshalton College is seeking an ambitious and experienced Deputy Head of School to help deliver an outstanding student experience, enabling learners to achieve their qualifications, progress successfully, and develop the skills needed for employment and lifelong learning.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management across a range of curriculum areas
- Contribute to the wider management and operational functions of the School and College
- Oversee the effective delivery of programmes, including recruitment, enrolment, retention and achievement
- Work closely with the Head of School to support budgeting, performance and partnership management
Role Requirements
- Play a key role in shaping and developing a high-quality, responsive curriculum
- Ensure provision remains flexible and aligned to local and regional skills priorities, employment priorities and national policies
- Lead on the monitoring and continuous improvement of quality standards and provision
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and awarding body expectations
- Oversee quality assurance processes for teaching and learning, ensuring alignment with best practice and compliance with GLA, Local Authority, Ofsted and ESFA requirements, including safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and health and safety
Candidate Requirements
- Hold relevant professional qualifications as well as a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLSS, DET etc)
- Have an up-to-date record of professional development
- Have proven experience of effective teamwork, both as a leader and as part of a team
- Have strong awareness of future developments that influence the curriculum, in particular the needs of the local and regional economy
- Have in-depth knowledge of how to plan, budget, resource and monitor the curriculum
- Have a thorough understanding of what makes for excellent evidence-based teaching, learning and assessment as well as how to monitor it effectively
- Have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of national standards, and what excellent curriculum provision and outcomes look like
- Strive to set and achieve high professional standards in everything that you do
