Full Job Description

We put wellbeing first by giving our teams more time to recharge

Position: Deputy Headteacher

Location: Tile House School, Buckinghamshire, MK18 5AN

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent | Term time only

Start: April 2027

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the founding leadership team at Tile House School, a brand-new specialist school opening in Buckinghamshire.

Working alongside the Headteacher, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing a thriving, inclusive and nurturing school where children and young people with Autism and additional needs can flourish. From shaping the curriculum and developing outstanding teaching to embedding positive behaviour and safeguarding practices, you'll help create a school where every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the Headteacher in establishing the vision, culture and strategic direction of our brand-new specialist school.
  • Lead and develop high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum, ensuring outstanding outcomes for every pupil.
  • Champion positive behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding, creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and ensure personalised learning programmes meet individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Lead, coach and inspire staff through performance management, mentoring and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, families, local authorities and external professionals to deliver holistic support.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, SEND, health & safety and all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Play a key role in driving continuous school improvement, helping shape the future success of Tile House School.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE (or equivalent teaching qualification). NPQH is desirable.
  • Has successful leadership experience within a special or mainstream school, ideally supporting pupils with SEND or Autism.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
  • Is an inspirational leader who motivates, develops and supports colleagues to achieve excellence.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
  • Is resilient, proactive and thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Has strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour support, curriculum development and school improvement.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child.

Tile House School is a brand-new specialist school, part of Acorn Education, opening in April 2027. The school will provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for up to 72 pupils with SEMH needs.
