Bellway is looking for a Deputy IT Director
Bellway is looking for a Deputy IT Director to join our Group IT team based at our Head Office in Woolsington, Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a newly created senior leadership opportunity within Bellway's Group IT function, offering the chance to shape how technology supports the future of one of the UK's leading housebuilders.

The Role
As Group Deputy IT Director, you will play a key role in defining and delivering Bellway's IT and digital strategy across a national, multi-site business. Working closely with the Group IT Director, senior leaders, divisional teams and external partners, you will help ensure technology enables operational efficiency, supports growth, strengthens cyber resilience and enhances the experience of colleagues and customers.
This is a broad and influential role, balancing strategic transformation with the delivery of reliable, secure and effective day-to-day IT services across the business.
We're looking for an experienced IT leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on operational understanding. You'll bring strong commercial awareness, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
Principal Accountabilities
IT Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and deliver a Group-wide IT and digital strategy aligned to business objectives
- Act as a key advisor to the Executive team on technology opportunities and risks
- Lead digital transformation initiatives across construction, sales, finance and customer care

Operational IT Delivery
- Ensure reliable, secure and cost-effective IT operations across all divisions and head office
- Oversee infrastructure, networks, systems and support services
- Drive continuous improvement in IT service performance and user experience
Systems & Innovation
- Lead the development and optimisation of core business systems (e.g. COINS, CRM, ERP, document management)
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology in areas such as:
- Site operations and build programmes
- Customer journey and aftercare
- Data and reporting
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies where appropriate
Data & Cyber Security
- Establish robust data governance frameworks and reporting capabilities
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and cyber security standards
- Lead risk management and business continuity planning relating to IT
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Divisional leadership teams to understand operational needs
- Partner with Group functions to embed technology solutions that improve efficiency
- Build strong relationships with external suppliers and partners
Team Leadership
- Lead, develop and structure the Group IT function
- Foster a high-performing, customer-focused IT team
- Drive capability building and succession planning

- Manage the IT budget, ensuring value for money and ROI on investment
- Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation and supplier performance
Experience
- Proven experience as an IT Director / Head of IT within a multi-site organisation
- Experience in housebuilding, construction, or a related sector (highly desirable)
- Track record of leading business-wide IT transformation programmes
- Experience managing ERP/CRM platforms and integrated systems
- Strong experience in cyber security, data management and governance
Qualifications & Training
- Relevant degree in IT, Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Professional certifications (e.g. ITIL, CISSP, TOGAF) are desirable
Skills & Aptitude
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness
- Excellent stakeholder management up to Board level
- Ability to translate business needs into technology solutions
- Strong leadership and team development capability
- Change management and transformation expertise
Working Conditions
- Office based role.
- Some ad-hoc travel to regional meetings or to partners offices.
