Deputy Manager (Maternity Cover)

Our Little Cubs Nursery in Greenwich, is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Deputy Manager to join our team. You will play a key role in caring for, supporting and inspiring our children, encouraging curiosity and helping them thrive every day.

This role is a one year Maternity cover position.

Curriculum

Playrooms

Our age-specific playrooms are designed to support every stage of development:

  • Bear & Lion Cubs (Babies): Sensory, messy, musical, and outdoor play.
  • Tiger Cubs (Toddlers): Activities that encourage communication, confidence, and social skills.
  • Preschool: A play-based environment that builds independence and prepares children for school.

Garden & Outdoor Learning

Our secure garden includes a mud kitchen, sandboxes, and an organic fruit and vegetable growing area. Outdoor play is an essential part of every day, supporting children's physical development, wellbeing, and connection with nature.

Activities

Children enjoy a wide range of engaging experiences, including music and movement, sensory and imaginative play, story time, phonics, nature exploration, and outdoor games.

Community Outings

We regularly visit local green spaces and attractions, including woodland, Greenwich Deer Park, Queen's Orchard, Greenwich Ecology Park, and Mudchute Farm. We also partner with a local care home to provide valuable intergenerational learning experiences.

What will you be doing

  • Create an environment that supports the individual needs of all children
  • Maintain systems to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of our childcare practices
  • Maintain effective methods of communication with children, staff, parents, and carers
  • Maintain open and positive working relationships with staff
  • Ensure that practices and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Assist in agreeing and reviewing individual targets with staff
  • Assume playroom and additional management responsibilities when required
  • Keep costs in line with the agreed budgets
