Deputy Manager

Deputy Manager – Retail Leadership Opportunity

As Deputy Manager, you’ll work alongside the Store Manager to:

  • Maximise profit
  • Lead the team
  • Deliver a seamless operation
  • Ensure store success

Key Responsibilities

Maximise Profit

Drive business excellence through: -Weekly sales, operations, and digital performance reviews to identify priorities and actionable improvements -Ensuring great availability and cost control through robust processes -Promoting a "sell a £, save a £" mindset to enhance store sales and profit -Delivering agreed KPIs

Engage, Develop & Retain Great People

Collaborate with the Store Manager to:

  • Support Talking Shop sessions and engage effectively with representatives
  • Drive team engagement through clear communication, appreciation, and respect
  • Foster an inclusive workplace where every team member can thrive
  • Drive upskilling using resources, training, and hands-on coaching
  • Implement performance management and proactive conversations

Ensure Compliance & Efficiency

Maintain high standards through:

  • Daily store walks to improve customer experience
  • Role-modelling proactive service (in-store and at the doorstep)
  • Strict adherence to cash, security, and digital policies (One Best Way)
  • Legal compliance to mitigate risks
  • Rigorous health and safety policies

Leadership & Decision-Making

Lead with confidence and capability:

  • Set personal examples in performance, service, and behavior
  • Demonstrate approachability, respect, and enthusiasm for collaboration
  • Reduce waste and prioritize team and business success
  • Operate effectively in the Store Manager’s absence
  • Communicate with structured conversations to solve problems
  • Plan ahead, delegate tasks, and coach motivating teams
  • Ensure consistently high operational standards

  • Proven retail management experience
