Residential Deputy Manager

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Specific Hours: 08:00 am – 20:00 pm (12-hour shifts, avg. 168 hrs/month)
Salary: £39,362.67 per annum
Location: Camden, North London
Area Camden is a consistently Outstanding-rated (Ofsted) provider since 2014. We are seeking a passionate Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in delivering exceptional care within our residential home for young people aged 9–17 with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

About the Role
The Deputy Manager will:
- Support the Registered Manager, deputising where needed and overseeing day-to-day home operations.
- Supervise & mentor staff, ensuring professional conduct, supervision completion, and effective communication.
- Manage key operational areas, including:
- Care quality
- Recruitment & training
- Staffing & home environment
- Basic financial duties
- Assess young people’s needs, contributing to personalised care plans.
- Promote independence & wellbeing, fostering positive behaviour and active participation.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Safeguarding (Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted)
- Health & Safety (including COSHH)
- Regulatory assessements (Regulation 44)
- Maintain accurate records (care plans, risk assessments, medication, finances).
- Build strong relationships with young people, families, staff, and external professionals.
- Assist with staffing needs (recruitment, training, rotas).
- Support admissions, ensuring smooth transitions for new residents.
- Attend & document meetings, sharing critical information across teams.
- Ensure staff are trained in intervention strategies.

Requirements
Essential:
- ≥2 years’ residential childcare experience.
- Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in safeguarding & child protection.
- Leadership experience including staff supervision.
- Strong communication (written & verbal) and budget management skills.
- Organisational & project management abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
