The Fairkytes family are recruiting!

42 Fairkytes is a lively residential care home in Essex, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs to live a life they love as independently as possible.


About The Role

As a Deputy Manager, you will assist the Registered Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home. This includes:

  • Ensuring the needs of the service users are met.
  • Managing the staff team.
  • Monitoring the quality of care and support.
  • Ensuring high standards of professional practice.
  • Achieving compliance with external regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Registered Manager, your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting specialist and high-quality care and support for service users.
  • Assisting in the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of individual care plans.
  • Ensuring policies, procedures, systems, and workplace practices are fully implemented and consistently applied.

You will also be accountable for:

  • Motivating and empowering your team, while encouraging their development.
  • Acting as an inspiring role model—leading by example, imparting knowledge, and advocating best practices.
  • Promoting innovative approaches that enable individuals to make choices, develop life skills, and live to the fullest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Registered Manager and staff to achieve the best outcomes for residents.
  • Demonsrate written communication skills for record-keeping.
  • Adopt a warm, person-centred, and affirmative approach when working with those you support.
  • Maintain compassion and professionalism, even during difficult situations.
  • Engage with clinical professionals as needed.
  • Embrace new ideas and modern practices.
  • Lead effectively and delegate responsibilities during shifts.
  • Conduct regular staff supervisions.
  • Set a positive example in all areas of daily work.
  • Provide assistance during crises, including crisis management for behaviours.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in IT (familiarity with Nourish and CamaScope would be an advantage).

About You

  • Motivation & Commitment: Highly committed, flexible, and ready to step into this crucial role.
  • Qualifications: Ideally holding or working towards a NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Levels 3 or 5), or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: Desirable experience working with individuals who have communication difficulties.
  • Legal Knowledge: An understanding of:
    • CQC Regulations & Standards
    • Mental Capacity Act
    • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
