Contract Type:
Fixed term 31st March 2027
Salary:
£30,000 - £34,000

Job Purpose
The main purpose of the role is to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of a trauma informed and recovery-based model within our specialist mental health accommodation. The post-holder provide leadership to frontline staff, and ensure a high-quality service is delivered on a 24-hour basis. This post, will oversee the provision of high quality, safe and responsive service which is outcome focused and responds to the needs of residents.

Job Summary
The role will require expertise in mental health, and will work within the following areas:
- Providing leadership and operational management to frontline staff.
- Where the service is registered with CQC the deputy will support the manager to ensure that all CQC regulations are upheld.
- Providing clear direction to all staff linked to excellent standards of care and support.
- Manage team performance on shift, supervise staff, and demonstrate positive values and support ensuring key targets are met.
- Provide a consistent approach to resident support, which is focused on trauma informed and recovery-based approach.
- Working in partnership with other agencies and our local communities.
- Ensure effective systems to promote both safety and security are deployed.
- Demonstrate a positive and objective attitude and behaviours in everyday practice.
- Participate in the manager’s on-call system to provide the first point of contact for service staff, outside of normal working hours.

Main duties and responsibilities
The post holder is required to carry out the below duties but not limited to;
Davenant and Caledonian Road
- Participate in referral assessments and increase occupancy for the service as directed by the manager
- Supervision of staff as directed by the manager
- When the manager of Caledonian and Davenant Road is on leave you are required to cover that role
- Facilitate team and resident meetings
- Support the manager to ensure effective rota planning meets the needs of the service and remains within service FTE.
- Support the manager by ensuring regular audits, KPI audits, and standards relating to resident records are undertaken in line with policy and with the reviews of Service Improvement plans.
- Support the manager with the management of complaints or investigations
- Ensure that the move-on policy is adhered to by staff and that there are reviews of residents' progress (-placement review meetings)
- With the line manager, ensure that SMOT Co-production agenda is at the heart of services
- Participate in providing training for staff as part of their induction, introduction of new processes or staff workshops

St Martins House
- Support front-line staff with tasks, calendar appointments and offering guidance
- Involvement in referrals
- Medication management, including ordering and auditing
- Supervising staff members, including appraisals
- Incident management, including debriefs if needed
- Attendance in professional meetings/staff meetings / resident meetings
- Rota Management
- Governance, including monthly audits
- Budget management, including petty cash
- Managing and investigating complaints from both residents and local neighbours.

Person Specification
Knowledge
Essential
- Reasonable standard of IT knowledge, Word and PowerPoint, Excel
- Experience in governance, safeguarding and evidence-based practice
Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- Experience of working in a health/social care context
- Experience of supporting team performance and helping residents with complex mental health needs
- Experience of statutory regulation and legislation linked to mental health
- Prepared to work towards NVQ Level 5.
Desirable - Degree and/or diploma/ working towards related to health and social care.

- Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
- Able to use own initiative, skills in problem solving
- Ability to multi-task, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to communicate and negotiate with colleagues, residents and other professionals.
