Ready to step up and experience what it’s like to run a flagship store—while still being supported as you grow?
At Boots, becoming a Deputy General Manager is a career-defining step. This role gives you the opportunity to lead at scale in one of our busiest and most exciting stores, outliers in bringing new products, services, and innovations to life.
About the Role
You’ll be at the heart of it all, shaping the daily operations of a flagship store. Using data, intuition, and experience, you’ll set clear direction, track performance, and ensure teams deliver the brilliant customer and patient experience Boots is known for.

Together, you’ll shape store performance, make data-driven decisions, and gain firsthand leadership insights. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with regional teams, building your own leadership capabilities while creating opportunities for future progression.
Ideal candidates are Store Managers looking for a bigger challenge or experienced Assistant Managers ready to step into a senior operational role.

- Own daily performance, reviewing results, spotting gaps, and taking action to improve
- Lead morning huddles to align teams with clear direction and focus
- Use data and insights to track trends, respond quickly, and maintain store performance across retail, pharmacy, and operations
- Coach and develop Assistant Managers, helping them lead confidently and understand the bigger picture

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
