As Deputy Manager at Friends of the Elderly (FotE), you will collaborate with the Registered Manager to deliver exceptional physical and person-centred care in our residential care setting (Redcot, Haslemere)—a tranquil, National Trust-adjacent oasis in Surrey.

- Clinical oversight, ensuring health, safety, and high-quality electronic care planning for residents.
- Operational agility—managing day-to-day functions in administration, catering, domestic, laundry, and maintenance, within agreed Friends of the Elderly/FotE standards, CQC regulations, and legislation.
- Financial prudence—together with the Registered Manager, keeping the services budget-aware and cost-effective.
- Team development—fostering a culture where every team member embraces best practice, training, and enduring improvement.
- Community ambiance—cultivating a cohesive, encouraging space that feels home-like for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in providing strategic leadership across administration, care, and service functions.
- Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding protocols, and best practice frameworks.
- Oversee and enhance resident health and safety, using effective risk assessments and systems-led reviews (e.g., electronic care plans).
- Advise on and help manage the annual service budget through cost-effective decision-making.
- Establish and maintain regulatory links with internal leadership, external professionals, and residents/families.
- Champion safeguarding: adhere to FotE’s Policy & Procedures, report concerns immediately and transparently, and conduct audits/improvements where needed.
- Act as a visible role model for the care team—core values include supporting staff in upholding standards of care and ethics.
- Maintain welcoming communal environments and person-centred routines.
- Design and implement rotas and staff training, investing in continuous professional development.

Who We’re Looking For
You are a ** driven leader** with proven:
- 3+ years in elderly care.
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care (required).
- A practical understanding of care protocols (e.g., the Care Certificate).
- Audit-based accountability: hands-on experience consistently monitoring practice—spot gaps, instigate improvements, and enforce robust safeguarding.
- Ability to train new hires, maltreatings: amend system.
- Knowledge of adult safeguarding, CQC requirements, and NHS guidelines essential.
