Deputy Manager - Children's Residential (EBD)

Location: Coventry (CV11)

Salary: £16.50 per hour

Overtime: £25.00 per hour

Sleep-In: £45 per sleep

Hours: 160 hours per month

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

About The Role

We are recruiting an experienced Deputy Manager to join a well-established Children's Residential Home supporting young people aged 8-17 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, therapeutic care while leading and developing a committed staff team.

This opportunity is ideal for a Senior Residential Support Worker ready for progression or an existing Deputy Manager seeking their next step.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Support the day-to-day running of the home
  • Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Lead shifts and supervise staff effectively
  • Conduct supervisions, appraisals and performance reviews
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and staff development
  • Promote a positive, high-performing team culture

Safeguarding & Care

  • Ensure safeguarding is embedded in all practices
  • Respond to incidents and concerns appropriately
  • Support care planning and placement reviews
  • Build strong, positive relationships with young people
  • Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behavioural outcomes

Compliance & Quality

  • Maintain compliance with:
    • Children's Homes Regulations 2015
    • Ofsted Standards
    • Safeguarding and Health & Safety legislation
  • Support Ofsted inspections and audits
  • Ensure all records and reports are accurate and up to date

Multi-Agency Working

  • Work closely with Social Workers, CAMHS, Schools and Local Authorities
  • Attend and contribute to professional meetings
  • Maintain positive stakeholder relationships

Requirements

  • ✅ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Essential)
  • ✅ Level 5 Diploma (or willingness to work towards)
  • ✅ Minimum 2 years' experience in a Children's Residential setting
  • ✅ EBD / Challenging Behaviour experience
  • ✅ Leadership or shift-leading experience
  • ✅ Strong knowledge of safeguarding & Ofsted requirements
  • ✅ Excellent communication and report writing skills

Desirable Experience

  • Previous Deputy Manager experience
  • Ofsted inspection involvement
  • Trauma-informed or therapeutic care approach
  • Supporting complex needs
