Deputy Manager – Make Every Day Matter!
Location: Kennington (OX1) and Abingdon (OX13), Oxfordshire
About the Role
Salary: £18.68 per hour (£36,426 per annum) plus benefits
Hours: 37.5 per week, Permanent
Key Requirements:
- Manual UK driving licence (essential)
- Ability to meet CQC quality standards and statutory guidance

As Deputy Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with the Registered Manager to ensure smooth daily operations in both the Kennington and Abingdon services. Your leadership will set a positive example, supervising a team of support workers to deliver high-quality, personalised and empowering care that champions independence, dignity and choice.
Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in upholding CQC regulatory standards, compliance, and service excellence.
- Lead and mentor support workers with:
- Team supervision
- Training development
- Performance appraisals
- Ensuring robust training and continuous upskilling
- Oversee and update customised care plans to ensure they remain person-centred.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive environment for individuals supported, while fostering their individual goals.
- ** Respond promptly to incidents**, safeguarding concerns, risk mitigation, and operational issues.
- Build strong partnerships with families, professionals, external agencies, and local communities.
- Maintain strict adherence to Health & Safety legislation, personal safety, and support risks policies.
Key Skills & Experience
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven supervisory or management experience in learning disabilities/autism care (preferably with challenging behaviours).
- Experience in inducing and reducing problematic behaviours (Positive Behavioural Support – PBS) is highly advantageous but not everyone should do it.
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act (Deprivation of Liberty - DoLs) and restrictive practices.
- Hands-on experience in supporting and assessing new individuals join services.
- Provable expertise in ** Healthy Risk Management** and safeguarding.
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Level 5 in management a strong preference).
