About The Role
We Change Lives (WCL) is seeking a passionate and motivated Deputy Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in one of our community-based services, supporting colleagues and ensuring the highest quality of care and support for the people we serve.
As a Community Team Manager, you'll work under the direction of the Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a designated branch of the service. You'll champion excellence, drive quality standards, and lead your team to deliver person-centred care that makes a real difference in people's lives.
Job Summary
To take responsibility, under the direction of the Service Manager, for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the service in order to achieve an industry-leading standard. Promote an environment that provides residents with specialised personal care through a process of individual consultation, ensuring standards are delivered and maintained through effective management of colleagues and achievement of agreed care, quality, safeguarding, and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership – Under the direction of the Service Manager
- Provide leadership and effective performance management for all colleagues in the service, promoting an environment that supports dignity and respect.
- Lead colleagues in developing service performance and improving quality standards, disseminating organisational strategic outcomes.
- Support the Service Manager in collating information for Service Development plans and delivering agreed objectives in collaboration with the Quality Lead and Operations Director.
- Support the Service Manager in collating monthly data, analysing it to evaluate and monitor performance against set objectives, alongside the Quality Lead and Operations Director.
- Maintain awareness of changes in the care environment and support the Service Manager in leading colleagues through necessary adjustments to develop the service.

Colleagues
- Alongside the Service Manager, be responsible for selection, recruitment, induction, retention, and development of all colleagues in line with legislation and company guidelines.
- Ensure the appropriate numbers and skills mix of colleagues to meet the requirements of the service.
- Establish and maintain systems for effective supervision of all colleagues.
- Provide supervision and leadership development to assigned team members.
- Ensure frequency and clarity in communication and information dissemination using various methods.

- Deliver a caring environment adhering to the latest guidelines, best practice, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of care delivery, ensuring clinical and care needs of the people we support are met.
- Seek and reflect the views and preferences of the people we support, alongside those of visitors.
- Aim for a high level of satisfaction with the service from all stakeholders (people we support, relatives, colleagues, and commissioners).
- Manage complaints and concerns appropriately and effectively under WCL Policy.
- Proactively monitor compliance with service contracts and ensure continuous improvement in relationships and service provision.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with relatives, residents, purchasers, and external agencies to strengthen the local community reputation.

- Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults compliance and Mental Capacity Act implementation, including reporting safeguarding concerns.
- Promote best practice in positive behavioural support, ensuring all colleagues are adequately trained and follow planned support plans.
- Provide immediate crisis support (de-escalation, restraint intervention, adherence to WCL on-call policy).
Business
- Support the Service Manager in achieving financial and commercial management of the home under WCL policy.
- Support the Service Manager in meeting agreed financial targets by maintaining revenue (occupancy and fees) and optimising resource management.
- Maintain audit and review systems for constant improvement.
- Ensure contractual compliance at all times.
- Optimise opportunities to develop the service.
- Achieve monthly occupancy and budget targets.
- Understand and implement performance metrics (KPIs) to drive care, people, and finance objectives.
Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults / Mental Capacity Act
- Complete training on Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and the Mental Capacity Act to enable adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
- Report safeguarding concerns to the Senior Manager/Dark Blue Manager/Deputy CEO on-duty.

Comply with Health and Safety regulations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, including:
- Taking reasonable care for yourself and others affected by work.
- Cooperating with the employer to meet Health and Safety policies.
- Preventing misuse of workplace health, safety, or welfare measures.
