Children’s Residential Deputy Manager
Location: Nelson Salary: £40,777 - £46,142 per annum Hours: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours/week), Pro Rata Closing Date: 31 July 2026
This critical leadership position as Children’s Residential Deputy Manager is open within Lancashire County Council’s Residential Children’s Services, part of their "Where Our Children Live" programme.
About the Role
Lancashire County Council is excited to introduce new Deputy Manager roles in their Residential Children’s Services, supporting a strategic push to modernise and expand residential childcare across the county. These roles are ideal for experienced Assistant Managers looking to grow within their careers.
As Deputy Manager, you will:
- Work core hours (Mon–Fri, 7am–7pm), supervising teams of Senior Residential Childcare Workers and Residential Childcare Workers.
- Serve in various settings, including:
- Small children’s homes
- Specialist homes for children with complex mental health needs
- Intensive support hubs to prevent care placement
- Support the Home Manager in delivering operational excellence, managing care plans, health and educational outcomes, and coordinating with external professionals.
- Attend multi-agency meetings, reviews, and service projects.
- Take a leadership role in team development and staff training.

Responsibilities
✔ Leadership & Management
- Supervise and mentor care workers.
- Manage policies and procedures compliant with safeguarding standards.
✔ Direct Care Coordination
- Oversee individual care plans, health, and educational progress.
- Maintain regular communication with social workers, teachers, and specialists.
- Ensure alignment with government regulations as well as Lancashire’s service outcomes.
✔ Collaborative Accountability
- Represent the team at multi-agency meetings and reviews.
- Contribute to service-wide initiatives, workforce training, and workforce development.
Requirements

Essential:
- Driving license and access to a vehicle (essential for car user posts).
- Note: Disability exemption may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Residential Children and Young People’s Services, or equivalent.
- QCF Level 4 or NVQ Level 3/4 in Leadership & Management (Health & Social Care), or equivalent.
