The Woolpack - Deputy Manager Opportunity
Situated on trendy Bermondsey Street and only a short walk from London Bridge. Our pub has a little something for everyone, whether it's casual drinks with friends in our large beer garden, something a bit cosier in the main bar area, or a setting to fill up your Instagram feed with our recently redecorated renaissance room.
Not your average pub. Not your average Deputy role.
About Us
The Woolpack is one of Bermondsey Street’s busiest pubs.
We’re liquor-led, serious about great drinks and known for our craft beer, buzzing atmosphere and brilliant garden—a rare find in Central London. From after-work drinks and first dates to birthdays, parties and major football and rugby tournaments, there’s always something happening here.
We’re proud to be part of the local community. We know our regulars by name, but we’re also a destination people travel across London to visit. Every year we take the business to another level, and we’re looking for someone who wants to help us keep doing exactly that.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We’re Looking For:
- Someone who’s loyal, kind, cool under pressure and an absolute grafter.
- You’ll lead by example, get stuck in when the pub is five deep and never ask the team to do something you wouldn’t do yourself.
- You’ll have their backs, earn their respect and help create a workplace people genuinely enjoy being part of.
The Role:
But this role is about more than running a great shift.
- You’ll help look after every side of the business—from health and safety, stock and standards to KPIs, costs and all controllables.
- You’ll understand the numbers, protect the business and make sure the details behind the scenes are just as strong as the guest experience out front.
This isn’t an easy ride, and it’s definitely not a clipboard job. It’s for someone who loves the buzz of a seriously busy pub, takes real ownership and wants to be part of something successful.
