🌟 Deputy Manager – Children's Home, Shrewsbury 🌟

Are you a passionate leader ready to make a real difference?

At Shaftesbury we are recruiting for a dedicated Deputy Manager to help shape a supportive, inclusive environment where children can truly thrive. We are looking for someone with experience working in a residential children’s home, or with children with disabilities, in a similar setting.

Our Children's Home is a purpose built children’s home which provides overnight short breaks for children with disabilities.

The home provides a safe, nurturing, caring and fun home away from home for children and young people aged 0-17 years old.

Our caring staff team provide high quality support to children who have a range of disabilities including; learning, physical, and sensory disabilities, autism, developmental conditions, and health conditions. The children we care for need support with; personal care, mobility, medication, communication, getting out and about and managing behaviour.

The home provides invaluable support to children, young people and their families. We are a warm, fun and friendly home and we aim to make a real, positive difference to the local community, the children and young people we support and their families.

The home operates 5 nights per week, Wednesday to Sunday, all year round. Up to 5 children can stay per night.

Usual staffing levels are 6 day time staff, 1 sleep in staff and 2 waking night staff.

🚀 The Role

As a Deputy Manager, you’ll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring high-quality care and support for both the people we support and your team.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Working alongside the Registered Manager in leading and supporting a team of care professionals
  • Overseeing daily operations of the service
  • Promoting independence, inclusion, and wellbeing
  • Ensuring care is personalised, flexible, and of the highest standard

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent as defined by the DFE Guide to Children’s Homes Regulations, 2015
  • Or Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent and Level 5 Diploma to be achieved within 2 years of taking up the post
  • Knowledge and understanding of OFSTED requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Childrens Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Knowledge and understanding Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation and proceedures
  • A positive, proactive leadership style
  • Passion for delivering outstanding, child-centred care
  • Commitment to our values and making a difference

Additional Requirements

  • Participation in on-call rota
  • Weekend working required
