About The Role
We seek a Deputy Manager—someone who is calm, consistent, and approachable, especially under pressure. You’ll lead by example with high-quality practice, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence when supporting staff and families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing consistent leadership and direction for the team, ensuring clarity of expectations and support.
- Maintaining high standards of practice, leading by example, and advancing quality in day-to-day operations.
- Acting as a trusted link between staff and management, encouraging open, respectful communication.
- Assume ownership and accountability for responsibilities while fostering a solution-focused culture that promotes resilience and continuous improvement.
As the SENCO, you will also:
- Support individual child needs with strengthened relationships across families.
- Directly support the nursery manager in overseeing daily operations—being highly organised, dependable, and proactive.

About The Team
Haringey prioritises giving children the “best start in life”, with nurseries spearheading this vision in child development. Stonecroft Nursery provides an outstanding learning experience for children under 5 years old within a stimulating and inclusive environment.

About You
A seasoned early years professional who thrives as a well-rounded leader, excelling in:
- A deep understanding of child development and a commitment to high-quality, inclusive practice.
- Leading a busy year-round nursery, supporting staff, children, and families.
- Upholding high standards of safeguarding, SEND support, and EYFS.
You Will Bring
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent).
- Ideally, extra qualifications in childcare, early years education, or management.
Leadership & Supervision:
- Proven leadership experience within an early years setting, including supervising staff and engaging in performance management.
- Expertise in health and safety, with experience completing risk assessments and adhering to organisational policies and procedures.

Key Skills:
- Firsthand direct experience with young children as a key person and expertise in child development, the EYFS, and individual learning styles.
- Strong ability to model excellent practice, mentor, and coach both staff and trainees.
- Collaborative, reflective approach with skills in pause, support, and continuous enhancement for in-the-moment and planned discussions.
- Curriculum planning experience and creativity in designing learning environments, provocations, and activities.
SEND & Safeguarding Expertise:
- Hands-on experience supporting children with SEND, including Early Years Support Plans meetings, and working confidently across multi-agency partners.
Technical Competence:
- Strong IT skills—minimally, capacity to track, monitor, and report via digital systems.
