About the Role
This busy purpose-built Haematology/Oncology Unit is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate Deputy Ward Sister with good organizational and communication skills to compliment the existing team.
Unit Overview
- Day-care Unit comprised of 14 chair treatment area, a private patient room, and many clinic rooms.
- The day unit is very busy seeing approx 250 patients per week.

- NMC Registration is required.

Key Responsibilities
- To support the Ward Sister in managing the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit and contribute to the development and promotion of the nursing service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care.
- To participate in the development of patient pathways, policies, and protocols, to enable changes in practice to be achieved, implemented, evaluated, and disseminated.
- To be involved in the development of the Haematology and Oncology Cancer Nursing Service, in collaboration with the MDT, to meet patient and service needs.
- To build effective working relationships with the multidisciplinary teams within and across providers, to meet patient and service needs, acting as patient advocate and representing nursing views.
- To provide, receive, interpret, and communicate complex information with a range of health care personnel.
- To ensure that all LERNs are investigated in a timely manner and in accordance with Trust policy and to escalate appropriately incidents following the investigation of complaints or LERNs.
- To ensure all staff are provided with individual and team feedback on reported incidents and the actions taken and to disseminate widely any learning points to the whole team.
