Deputy Site Security Manager

Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom

About the Role

As Deputy Site Security Manager, you will oversee daily security operations across multiple Thales UK sites. Responsible as the Facility Security Controller (FSC) where required, you will ensure compliance with physical, material, and information security standards while acting as the primary point of contact for accreditation processes.

This is a hybrid role with 5 days per week on-site (aligned to full-time hours). Flexible working (part-time or full-time) is available.


Key Responsibilities

Core Operational Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute site security operations, covering:
    • Physical security
    • Material and document control
    • Personnel security
    • Information security
  • Ensure Facility Security Clearance (FSC) maintenance and compliance.
  • Act as the primary liaison with accrediting bodies.

Policy and Compliance Management

  • Implement and enforce corporate security policies via the Chorus governance framework.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including participation in site management meetings.

Plan Development and Maintenance

  • Develop,execute, and update the Site Security Plan (SSP) and site security risk register.

Asset and Classified Materials Management

  • Oversee issuing, storage, mustering, and destruction of classified assets to strict security protocols.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Support subcontractor approvals (F1686) in the UK and overseas.
  • Manage IVCO notifications for government visits and Letters of Intent (LOI).
  • Report and investigate security breaches, recommending and implementing corrective action.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Advise site leadership, security professionals, and employees on security matters (including Security Grarding Guides and SALs).
  • Collaborate with third-party guarding service providers to ensure contract adherence.
  • Maintain relevant HM Government (HMG) and Thales accreditations.
  • Lead security awareness campaigns for internal staff and external contractors.

Regulatory and Standards Compliance

  • Work with project managers and stakeholders to embed security compliance across frameworks such as:
    • ISO 27001:2013
    • HMG Security Policy Framework
    • JSP 440 (MOD standards)
    • Relevant UK legislation
  • Support Information Asset Owners (IAOs) in identifying and mitigating security risks.

Security Clearance Requirement

Mandatory for this role: Security Clearance

  • If not currently in possession, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain SC clearance prior to commencement.

Eligibility criteria typically include:

  • UK residence for the prior 5 years, or
  • Minimum 3 years residence in the last 5 years (with enhanced security vetting).
