Deputy Store Manager – Starbucks

About the Role

As a deputy store manager, you’ll partner with the store manager to co-lead the store, ensuring outstanding results in commercial, operational, and people performance. You’ll manage key business areas, including compliance, training, and commercial performance, and take over leadership in the store manager’s absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the store manager to drive financial targets, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence
  • Own business areas like compliance, labour management, and local marketing strategies
  • Lead the store leadership team and ensure accountability for results
  • Forecast staffing needs, recruit, and select new team members
  • Oversee trainee training, ensuring all partners complete required programs and align with Starbucks standards
  • Act as the store manager in their absence, including full operational and partner accountability
  • Monitor store KPIs, analyse performance trends, and implement action plans
  • Optimise cost control, profitability, and resource management
  • Close performance gaps using the store action plan
  • Ensure brand consistency and operational standards are met
  • Maintain compliance with health & safety, food safety, and security standards, including due diligence checks

About the Work

A typical day could include:

  • Dynamic, fast-paced work across early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays
  • On-the-job training during an introductory partner program, led by in-store coaches
  • Leadership at the frontline, setting an example for shift performance

Hours are varied, reflecting the nature of Starbucks retail operations.


Requirements & Qualifications

✅ Previous leadership experience in a retail or hospitality environment ✅ Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies ✅ Ability to manage people and operational priorities confidently ✅ Demonstrable accountability and a growth mindset ✅ Alignment with Starbucks’ mission and values
