Job Summary

If so, there is a brilliant opportunity as an Executive Officer with Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC), in the Wales and West (WW) Region.
RAFAC is the volunteer-military youth organisation sponsored by the Royal Air Force, which is formed of the Air Training Corps and RAF Sections of the Combined Cadet Force. The administration of RAFAC is managed by a mix of Military and Civil Service personnel, who play a key role in delivering world-class training and activities to thousands of cadets. Cadet life is all about challenge, excitement, and adventure. Cadets have many opportunities including UK and overseas camps, leadership courses, air experience flights and pilot training. The focus is always on enjoyment while learning new skills.
The Executive Officer supports the day-to-day administrative requirements to facilitate Training and Support Pillar and the Combined Cadet Forces Administration, but when required also helps with colleagues with other responsibilities.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) and we are actively seeking a dynamic and adaptable Executive Officer to proactively manage and support a wide variety of Training and Support requirements enabling daily operations for the cadets and volunteer staff in the Wales and West Region, covering Wales, Staffordshire, West Mercia, Warwickshire & Birmingham.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible to the Infrastructure & Logistic Managers for:
- Provide oversight and organisational skill, delivering on all Regional Training Support matters appropriate to the grade.
- Fostering strong and effective working relationships with all volunteer and permanent staff across the Region, committing your time to communicating and engagement accordingly. Become a clearly recognised focus point, accessible to all volunteers and staff seeking guidance on any questions connected with the organisation's training delivery, assurance and compliance requirements and their implementation.
- You will be responsible for assuring the Regional Commandant that all volunteer personnel are compliant with the mandated suite of training packages, applying appropriate sanctions where required, including suspension through liaison with the People Operations Pillar. You are to have a detailed focus on CCF(RAF) CFAV and cadets.
- You are responsible for supervising the administrators within the Training Support Pillar to ensure they receive appropriate training to allow them to fulfil their duties. Ensure that professional supervision and group learning opportunities are provided to the team to enable continued professional development and practice.
- Promote Safety: Champion a culture of safety, ensuring all activities adhere to rigorous safety standards and risk assessments.
- As part of a team, assist with the planning, provision, coordination and delivery of support to UK and overseas camps, and of conferences, cadres, courses and competitions commensurate with the grade.
- Deputise for the Training and Support Manager during periods of leave, absence or if otherwise directed.
As the Royal Air Force Air Cadets operate a Pillar System of work there may be a requirement that the successful candidate may be required to work with or provide support to a different pillar if there is an operational requirement to do so.

Person specification
The ideal candidate should be a strong written and oral communicator. You must be well organised, proficient in time management, and flexible in your approach to problem solving. Effective Microsoft Office skills are essential.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of office attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
