Deputy Ward Nurse Manager – Ward 25 - Band 6 | Part Time
An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Nurse Manager position on Ward 25. Ward 25 is a busy, 36-bedded acute general medical ward.
The role involves supporting the Ward Nurse Manager in their absence and maintaining high-quality patient standards on the ward. The post holder will work without direct supervision and will take charge of the ward/department in the absence of the Ward/Department Manager, who holds continuing responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care.
- Effective leadership and staff management and development.
- Working within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.

We invite experienced, motivated, and independently minded Band 5 and Band 6 registered nurses who are able to act on their own initiative within agreed guidelines. Candidates should adopt a values-led, ‘can do’ leadership style within a climate of change and uncertainty, to implement and manage plans and performance relating to quality, care, and compassion within the nursing service. This will be under the direction of the Ward Manager and the professional leadership of the Clinical Matron.

Role Overview
The Deputy Ward Nurse Manager will ensure that operational plans and performance are closely managed by proactively leading and providing solutions to complex operational issues. This will be in accordance with agreed Trust objectives, targets, quality standards, and resource constraints, with timely escalation of issues that cannot be resolved.
