Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking a Derivatives & Structured Finance Associate to join its highly regarded Energy & Natural Resources practice in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a market-leading team that advises major financial institutions, investment banks, commodity traders, funds, and corporates on sophisticated derivatives, structured finance, and risk management transactions across international markets.

Position Overview

As a Derivatives & Structured Finance Associate, you will advise on a broad range of complex derivatives and structured finance transactions across multiple asset classes. Working closely with partners and senior lawyers, you will support clients on the structuring, negotiation, and execution of bespoke financing arrangements, hedging solutions, and risk management products, while also gaining exposure to wider financing transactions within the energy, commodities, and natural resources sectors.

The team is recognized globally for its expertise in derivatives, trade, and commodity finance, acting for leading market participants on innovative and high-value transactions. Responsibilities

  • Advise on derivatives transactions across a broad range of asset classes, including commodity, interest rate, FX, and other structured products.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, confirmations, and related derivatives documentation.
  • Support the structuring and execution of complex financing, hedging, and risk management transactions.
  • Advise clients on legal, regulatory, and commercial issues arising in derivatives and structured finance transactions.
  • Work closely with financial institutions, commodity traders, funds, and corporates on cross-border matters.
  • Manage transaction processes and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction.
  • 2–5 years' PQE gained at a leading international or top-tier law firm.
  • Strong experience advising on derivatives transactions and related documentation.
  • Experience negotiating ISDA documentation and structured finance transactions.
  • Broad understanding of derivatives products and financing structures across multiple asset classes.
  • Strong appreciation of the legal and commercial issues affecting clients operating within the energy, commodities, and natural resources sectors.
