Administration Assistant - Dermatology Department

The Medical Specialties Division is seeking to appoint an Administration Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join the Dermatology Administration Team at University College London Hospital. The successful candidate will support both the reception service at Mortimer Market and the wider administrative function within the Dermatology department.

About the Role

The ideal applicant will be proactive, highly organised, and possess excellent communication and IT skills. They will be able to effectively prioritise their workload, adapt to changing service demands, and provide support to colleagues across the team when required.

The post holder will work closely with a wide range of staff, including administrative and clinical colleagues, nursing and medical teams, allied health professionals, and support workers. They will serve as a key point of contact for patients, relatives, GPs, external healthcare professionals, and tertiary referrers, both in person and via telephone.

While previous NHS experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. However, proven experience working in an office environment is a key requirement for this position. The successful candidate must be able to manage a busy and varied workload while maintaining a professional and patient-focused approach. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with strong interpersonal abilities, are essential for success in the role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
