Dermatology Health Care Support Worker

Job Title: Part-Time Healthcare Assistant – Community Dermatology Service (Dorset)

About the Role

We are expanding our Community Dermatology Service and are recruiting a dedicated and experienced part-time Healthcare Assistant to support our team across Dorset. The successful applicant will provide excellent patient care and assist in clinics at Pelhams Community Clinic (Kinson) and Poole Healthcare Centre (Dolphin Centre).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in both Outpatient and Surgical clinics, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Set up / maintain surgical instruments and environments for minor surgery procedures.
  • Record patient information accurately on SystmOne (clinical record-keeping system) while following perfect professional standards.
  • Conduct monthly IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) audits.
  • Assist GPwSIs (General Practitioners with Special Interest in Dermatology) during minor procedures.
  • Work flexibly across different clinics, prerequisites include adapting to a varied schedule, potentially including ad-hoc extra hours.
  • Contribute to administrative tasks (via Microsoft Office Suite) when necessary during clinic downtime.

Requirements

  • Proven experience supporting healthcare professionals in a medical or clinical setting.
  • Experience/ability to use Microsoft Office Suite for recording administrative activities.
  • Enhanced DDS (DBS) check will be completed by the Trust (cost covered).
  • Must have a valid right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship. (Visa sponsorship unavailable for this role.)
  • Flexibility to accommodate varied clinic days/locations.
  • Clean, attentive attitude and competence in handling medical equipment.

contractual Note

  • This is a fixed-term role.
  • Current NHS staff: Will be appointed as secondment only—securing permission before applying.
