About the Role: Design and Technology Teacher

Are you passionate about inspiring creativity, practical skills, and technical expertise? We’re looking for a dynamic, organised, and creative Design & Technology teacher to deliver enriching lessons, fostering design thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on learning for our students.

Your impactful teaching should challenge students to: ✔ Develop technical confidence in berbagai tools and materials ✔ Reflect innovative design processes in their work ✔ Create practical, functional, and artistic outcomes

Your role will combine classroom creativity, project-based learning, and succcessful curriculum delivery tailored to our students’ diverse needs.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on Design & Technology lessons aligned with the school’s personalised curriculum
  • Guide students through research, planning, making, and evaluating stages of design projects
  • Incorporate cross-disciplinary learning (e.g., maths, science, and art) into DT projects

Practical and Emotional Support

  • Ensure safe, responsible use of tools, equipment, and materials in all practical lessons
  • Encourage ** risk-taking, creativity, and problem-solving** through iterative testing of ideas
  • Provide tailored feedback to support students in developing both technical skills and written outcomes

Classroom & Operational Management

  • Maintain a well-organised, accessible learning environment with clear health and safety protocols
  • Work collaboratively with specialist staff, learning support team, and pastoral care to support individual needs
  • Keep up-to-date with departmental resources, handbooks, and subject developments

Person Specification

Qualifications

✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g., one-year Postgraduate Teaching Programme for unqualified applicants) ✅ Subject knowledge with a passing grade A-C in Design & Technology, products design, or a related subject at GCSE* (or equivalent)

Experience

🔸 Minimal design & technology subject experience (ideal if already in the profession) 🔸 Experience delivering practical, project-based lessons in inclusive educational settings 🔸 Excellent understanding of design processes, materials, and technical standards

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong practical and organisational skills to safely and efficiently run busy creative classrooms
  • Compelling enthusiasm for design and making, capable of inspiring students’ creativity
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to actively meet students’ technical and pastoral needs
  • Clear communication – both verbal and written – to guide students and colleagues
  • IT proficiency for planning, recording assessments, and maintaining student records

ECTs (Early Career Teachers) most welcome.
