About The Role

Design Coordinator

Skye Reinforcement Project – Scotland

Balfour Beatty Power T &D are recruiting future Design Managers and Engineering Managers who will begin their journey as Design Coordinators on one of the UK's largest transmission projects.

This is not a traditional “design admin” role.

You will sit at the centre of a live infrastructure programme, coordinating interfaces between engineering, construction, planning, commercial, and delivery teams across Overhead Lines, Underground Cable, and Access workstreams.

The position is based in Glasgow with regular travel to the Isle of Skye project.

Role Purpose

The Design Coordinator supports engineering delivery by managing:

  • design interfaces,
  • programme alignment,
  • technical deliverables,
  • workflow coordination,
  • stakeholder integration,
  • and reporting visibility across multiple packages.

The role enables Design Managers and Engineering Managers to focus on technical decision-making and delivery leadership while maintaining strong coordination across the wider project.

  • Coordinating design and delivery interfaces across multiple engineering packages
  • Supporting programme tracking and deliverable management
  • Managing actions, risks, and technical dependencies
  • Supporting integration between Design, Construction, Commercial, and Project Controls
  • Tracking progress against key milestones and submissions
  • Supporting design reviews and coordination meetings
  • Working closely with Engineering Managers, Design Managers, and package leads
  • Helping improve delivery visibility and reporting maturity across the project
