Reporting Line: Design Office Manager

About the Role

This role involves the effective delivery of 2D drawing submissions, Stage Gate documentation, problem-solving, and adapting to tasks as directed by the Design Office Manager or Senior Design Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and submit supporting 2D drawings, including P&IDs and BOMs (Bill of Materials)
  • Ensure all drawings comply with company and industry processes and standards
  • Monitor and uphold the standards of work produced within the department
  • Ensure weld details and procedures are accurate and present on company drawings
  • Compile job packets, verifying all relevant documentation is complete and correct
  • Attend design and project kickoff meetings as required
  • Assist the Project Managers and Design Office Manager with Stage Gate 2 documentation
  • Manage adherence to company procedures, with special emphasis on health & safety policies
  • Maintain and update company procedures and documentation
  • Maintain any relevant departmental records as needed
  • Effectively update and maintain workflow for drawing submissions and related approvals

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering/Design knowledge with relevant certification
  • Demonstrated personal professional development in the sector
  • Technical drawing experience and fluent English (reading/writing)
  • Assistance in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
  • Preferred experience working in:
    • OEMs or equipment package providers
    • UK municipal water sector
  • Previous experience producing general arrangement drawings and manufacture-specific drawings with related BOMs
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to focus on goals independently
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively across teams and departments
  • Proficient in:
    • 2D and 3D CAD systems (with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD being preferred)
    • Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Understanding of process safety, technical documentation, and company compliance procedures
