Design Draftsperson

Design Draftsperson – Reports to the Design Office Manager

About the Role

The Design Draftsperson will deliver 2D drawing submissions, produce Stage Gate 2 documentation, and support the Design Office Manager and Senior Design Engineer in operational efficiency. Responsibilities include 2D drafting, technical compliance, documentation management, and project support.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Produce supporting 2D drawings, including P&IDs and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Ensure drawings comply with company and industry standards and processes.
  • Monitor and enforce departmental drawing standards for consistency and quality.
  • Verify weld details/procedures on company drawings for accuracy.
  • Assist in compiling job packets, ensuring all required documentation is complete and correct.
  • Attend design and project kick-off meetings as required.
  • Support the Design Office Manager with Stage Gate 2 documentation.
  • Manage adherence to company procedures, with a focus on health & safety policies.
  • Maintain and update company procedures and documentation.
  • Update and maintain departmental records as required.

Who We’re Looking For

Key Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering/Design experience with relevant certification(s).
  • Demonstrated professional development in technical draughting.
  • Fluency in English and ability to read technical drawings.
  • Technical CAD proficiency (preferred: strong knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD).
  • Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Preferred Experience

  • Background in OEMs or equipment packaging and the UK municipal water sector.
  • Experience producing general arrangement drawings and manufacturing drawings with BOMs.
  • Experience working with 3D CAD (in addition to 2D).
