CRE Marine

CRE Marine, delivering subsea connectivity, designs and manufactures a range of all-metal shell connectors, fibre optic products, strain terminations, penetrators, and junction boxes for extremely heavy-duty use and are trusted in the most rigorous underwater applications on the planet from splash zone to full ocean depth.

Position Summary

The Design Draughtsperson plays a crucial role in our engineering team, contributing to the creation of detailed design drawings and technical documentation using SolidWorks and Vault. The primary objective is to support the product development process by transforming conceptual designs into accurate, comprehensive drafts. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless translation of ideas into practical and manufacturable solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.

Skills:

  • Proficient in SolidWorks and Vault.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of drafting standards and best practices (BS8888 etc.).

Job Responsibilities

Drafting and Modelling:

  • Utilise SolidWorks and Vault to create 3D models and detailed 2D drawings that adhere to industry standards and company guidelines.
  • Develop accurate representations of product components, assemblies, and systems.

Technical Documentation:

  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions.
  • Ensure that all drawings and documents are in compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to understand design requirements and specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input to enhance the overall quality of designs.

Revision Control:

  • Manage and update design files to reflect revisions and changes throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient file management system.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of own work to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
  • Support the implementation of quality control measures within the drafting process.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in design software.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the drafting team.

Deadline Management:

  • Prioritise and manage multiple projects concurrently to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to provide project status updates.
